Privacy notice

What is collected

Google Analytics measures visits. It records the pages requested, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, device and browser type, and a randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie so that repeat visits can be counted as one visitor rather than several. Google acts as the processor for that data; its handling is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Vercel, which hosts the site, and Cloudflare, which sits in front of it, keep standard server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes.

What is not collected

• No accounts, sign-ins or passwords: the site has none.
• No email addresses: there is no form, no newsletter and no mailing list.
• No health information. The site asks no questions about you and stores no answers.
• No payments. Purchases happen on Amazon, under Amazon's own terms.
• No advertising, no advertising networks and no data sold or shared for it.

Cookies

The only cookies set are Google Analytics measurement cookies. Blocking them, through browser settings, a content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on, affects nothing on the site: every page is static and works identically without them.

Links out

The source register links to publishers, journals and DOI resolvers, and the book pages link to Amazon. Those sites set their own cookies and keep their own logs, and this notice does not cover them.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, the EEA or a US state with a comparable law, you have rights of access, correction, deletion and objection over personal data held about you. Since the only data here is analytics measurement tied to a cookie identifier rather than to you by name, the practical route is to clear the cookie or block it. For anything else, write via NPB.com.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and collects nothing knowingly from them.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. See also the terms of use and how this site works.
