Wall beneath loft edge: However, you may have a wall beneath the loft edge (figure 7). The spiral may need to be out from the wall far enough so that the rail will clear possible obstructions (light switches, thermostats, wall trim, etc.).

Additional obstructions at lofts: The spiral may be located against a wall perpendicular to the loft edge, adding to the obstructions that should be considered (figure 8).
