Spirals to loft floors: Spirals can access an open loft or balcony edge in a cathedral area (figure 2). Figure 2.
Loft Spirals: Spirals going to loft edges are usually well out in the open. As long as you have adequate headroom when you start up the spiral, the stair could be slid a few inches under the loft edge to leave more room on the first floor. Figure 6 shows an example of this type of installation. Figure 6.
